News on the Latest Raspberry Pi Update
The Raspberry Pi is a very simple computer which can be yours for just around $35. And although the computer looks and feels elementary, it is basically designed for youngsters who are interested in making a career in coding. So, here’s all we know so far about the Raspberry Pi Foundation and their new device.
According to technews, the new board brings together a host of new hardware, such as the Broadcom 900MHz Quadcore ARM Cortex-A7 processor and 1GB of RAM. These upgrades will make the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B a more powerful computer and unlike any other computer near its price point.
Eben Upton, the founder of Raspberry Pi Foundation, noted that since its launch, the company has sold over 4.5 million boards which is a milestone in itself for the foundation. During the event, Upton also mentioned how kids were drawn towards coding and technology in general, and that the foundation had no intentions of discontinuing its other Raspberry Pi boards with its A+ board which was only introduced back in November.
According to Upton, the new board is about six times faster than the previous B+ version of last year and is powerful enough to major big operating systems such as the Linux operating system and the new Windows 10 as well.
Microsoft is currently working on a free version of the Windows 10 operating system which is going to run on the new Quadcore micro-computer. Raspberry Pi is right on time for the unveiling of the new Windows 10 operating system. In fact, the foundation has repeatedly announced of its involvement in a new collaboration with Windows to bring the new Windows 10 operating system to the Raspberry Pi 2. The good news for bright eyed developers is that very soon there will be a Pi 2 compatible version of the Windows 10 which will be available for free.
That being said, as a fair warning, there is a good chance that the new Pi 2 compatible version of the Windows 10 OS will not be all that similar to the Windows 10 OS we’ve been introduced to in the demos. That’s because the Pi 2 compatible edition is just a part of Microsoft’s Windows Developer Program for the Internet of Things, which is mainly concerned with introducing Windows development tools to small handheld devices. This is a fact that has been identified by Upton as well.
The sad news is that the Windows 10 operating system which will be working on the new Raspberry Pi 2 is less likely to appeal to the regular Windows consumers because of its lack of familiar features as compared to the original Windows 10 operating system. According to both companies, more technews on the Windows 10 OS and the Raspberry Pi 2 will be unveiled shortly.
